TO THE JUDGE ADVOCATE GENERAL

AT THE IAŞI MILITARY TRIBUNAL,

            I, the undersigned, SAVA PAUL, residing in IAŞI, str. ---, no. ---, blk. ---, apt. ---, IASI county, working as a --- at ---, IASI county, born in Roman, Neamţ county, on 1984-04-03, file the present

CRIMINAL COMPLAINT

            On Saturday, December 7, 2013, I took part in the protest against water contamination through shale gas exploration and exploitation using the hydraulic fracturing method, protest which took place in PUNGEŞTI, VASLUI county.

            At a certain moment, I left the protest area intending to return home in Iaşi. I was prevented from doing this by walking on the verge of the public road when I reached two checkpoints handled by individuals wearing the insignia of the ROMANIAN RIOT POLICE. At the two checkpoints I was subjected to the verification of my Identity Card without someone saying hello, without someone introducing themselves, without someone stating the Riot Police County Inspectorate they were working at or the institution they were working at, without any justification of the procedure.

            Furthermore, at each checkpoint, I was surrounded by a large group of individuals wearing the insignia of the ROMANIAN RIOT POLICE.

            At the second checkpoint established by the individuals wearing the insignia of the ROMANIAN RIOT POLICE, the individual who asked for my Identity Card spoke to me with an insulting language, for instance «crank», and warned me, in an ironic tone, that I might get a fine. The verbal interactions were filmed by an individual whose presence was tolerated by the other individuals because he was also wearing the insignia of the ROMANIAN RIOT POLICE. I was not informed about the legal grounds and the purpose of the filming procedure.

            I felt mentally abused, intimidated, my human dignity was challenged to a great extent and my constitutional rights were terribly threatened. The individuals in question asked me to leave the verge of the public road and join the roadway where they were positioned.

            Evidence: any filming materials or photographs taken by the ROMANIAN RIOT POLICE concerning my presence in the PUNGEŞTI area, VASLUI county, provided that they are presented on the original storage device, for a potential forensic examination requested by the undersigned.
